BBC News journalists who are members of the National Union of Journalists staged a 2 day strike over pthe BBC's plans to reform the corporation's pensions. All other unions in the corporation accepted the new policy and their line to union members was to work but not take out extra duties.
BBC North East & Cumbria was particularly hard hit with a skeleton service of BBC local radio in the region and no bulletins of Look North, instead simulcasting with Look North from Leeds which included some reports from the North East and Cumbria.
Journalists who are members of the union, which includes some of the BBC’s best known news presenters and correspondents, started a walkout at midnight on November 5th.
